Spicy Tofu Burgers


Servings 5-6

Tofu 250gms

Sesame or coconut oil 1 TBS

Onion –diced 1

Carrot – shredded 1

Celery – diced 2 stalks

Cooked Brown Rice/Millet 2 cups

Mustard paste 1 TBS

Miso 1 TBS

Falafel Mix * ½ – 1 cup depending on how spicy you want the burgers.

*If you don’t like spicy foods just leave out the falafel mix

  • Precook hulled millet or brown rice.
  • Soak tofu in boiling water for a few minutes to cleanse from packaging.
  • Drain and wrap tofu in clean cloth to remove excess water for 5-10 minutes. Place some weight on top to help draining.
  • Sauté vegetables in oil for 5 minutes.
  • Place cooked rice in a bowl and crumble in tofu.
  • Add sautéed vegetables, mustard, miso (diluted in a little hot water), and falafel mix.
  • Mix all the ingredients by hand and form into burgers.
  • Ensure that the ingredients have cooled before frying or baking.
  • Grill bake or fry.
  • Serve with your favourite sauce
