Our ability to think and act is a reflection of our state of physical and mental health, which has as its foundation, the food we cook and eat. Appropriate food can continually heal our bodies. Hippocrates taught that food should be our medicine and medicine should be our food. In many traditional medicine systems food plays an integral part and common foods are often used for medicinal purposes. I love to share my best knowledge and experience in preparing tasty , nourishing recipes using foods that are also medicines. Improving your food choices will help to improve your health , energy and overall well being.

Daily foods affect physical, emotional and mental health. Being mindful of our diet is the first step towards improving the way we live. Health concerns can be adjusted with diet and lifestyles modifications. In the 21st century whole food health, alternative medicine and organic foods are moving in to the mainstream. People are recognizing that healthier foods and lifestyle are essential to prevent dis-ease and to cope with modern living. Natural wholefoods can provide energy and stimulation, cleanse the bloodstream and build an efficient body Whole foods mean real foods that are in their unrefined edible state. The nutrients in whole foods clean, build and maintain the body. Refined foods, such as white flour, are missing minerals and trace minerals, vitamins, virtually all the fibre and natural oils and many phytochemicals that support full immune function.
These missing nutrients are necessary for complete metabolism to occur. As the result of consuming refined foods, the missing nutrients are extracted from the bones, tissues and nerves. This is why there is so much excess and obesity. Deficiencies lead to cravings, addictions, emotional turmoil and degenerative diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis. Many so called ‘diets’ do not address the essential issues in maintaining health and well being.
There is much confusion about diets, people worry about giving up food and that eating wholefoods takes too much preparation time. This is not necessarily so. In eating for balance there is so much choice but often people are limited by their lack of information. Understanding the properties of food is a valuable tool to enhance wellbeing. I will demystify the use of a range of wholefoods and natural ingredients, explain their medicinal values as well as their multiple energetic properties. In this way you will make better food choices and so be more responsible for maintaining your own health and wellbeing.
Organic wholefood and natural ingredients includes wholegrains, vegetables, fruits, legumes (beans and peas), sea-vegetables, nuts, seeds, natural sweeteners, good fats and essential oils and culinary herbs and spices. A diet of wholesome, easy to assimilate foods promotes digestion, and whatever supports digestion supports the health of the entire organism.

Food Training Program
Nutritional requirements vary for each individual. Consideration must be given to your personal profile such as age, gender, blood type, current physical and mental health, activities, lifestyle and current food regime. After over 30 years of experience I have been witness to many new ideas and diets and have updated according to best evidence and practice.
Basically my philosophy is one where better health is achieved by consuming mainly organic wholegrains, proteins, vegetables from land and sea and whole fruits. Some people do better as vegetarian, while some need fish and even meat. I suggest in all these cases that organic foods wherever possible is essential. I lean towards gluten, wheat, dairy, sugar free programs. Vegan programs are well balanced and all programs included more alkalizing wholefoods. I am available to come to your home and help you sort out your kitchen requirements and update you pantry with health supportive ingredients
What is Involved?
The duration of the initial consultation is 1.5 hours. Based on our initial consultation, I will design a series of 2-3 hour cooking sessions tailor-made for you. Naturally the recipes will be easy to follow and knowing that time is precious, recipes will be quick to prepare.
My main emphasis is to introduce you to a variety of health supportive natural ingredients that are easily available and to show you how to make good use of cooking time. I will also supply you with articles on nutrition and provide you with helpful resources. Private cooking instruction -price on application. Class held in North Caulfield kitchen.
Follow up Consultation will be 1 hour. The follow up consultation will focus on the following:
- The assessment and review of your personal profile.
- Discussing your nutritional requirements taking into consideration your health issues and concerns. Food intolerance are taken into account. These often include, gluten, wheat, dairy and or sugar intolerances.
- Making suggestions as to which foods are suitable for you and discussion of what type of recipes appeal to you.
- If required, recommendations and referrals, to my highly regarded network of whole food health practitioners.
What Can You Expect?
As you progress you will feel and see improvement in your health and life. As your body becomes healthier and cleaner, it will tolerate less of the foods in which you craved or indulged in in the past. Improving your diet gradually will lessen psychological, social and physiological affects of change.
Naturally there often is weight loss and a gain in energy and well being.
Be inspired to choose whole foods more wisely and prepare your own meals. It is so satisfying on many levels.
For your benefit I suggest that at least 3 sessions are necessary for a good introduction to the world of health supportive foods. Some people enjoy continuing fortnightly or even monthly sessions. As part of these sessions you can also learn how and where to shop. Shopping tours can be arranged where I can personally show you where to buy all those interesting ingredients.
The heart of the home is the kitchen. I would love to help you reorganise or even set up your kitchen, sort through your cupboards and suggest tools and equipment to make life in the kitchen easier and fun. After all, preparing your daily sustenance in a harmonious space creates more energetically balanced foods.
